Grandma was with Corey again today as he came into the clinic. He was dressed and ready to go. One nurse was able to take his vitals with ease and without assistance from anyone else. Grandma stated “I can't believe the difference. He is so calm.” You could tell her eyes were bright with excitement. Corey went on to have his dive without event.

November 7, 2011

Today was a pretty cool day at the clinic. Corey was excited as he came in with his mom. She was interviewed by the Cleveland Daily Banner, our local newspaper, about his therapy with us. We took several pictures and even took a short video of Corey.

As another small milestone, Corey was able to tolerate a full 90 minutes “at bottom” (at pressure) with minimal difficulty. He was just a little anxious at times, but nothing near what he'd been like before when they reached the 60 minute mark.

November 8, 2011

Another cool thing happened this morning. Corey was quite and cooperative through everything without any problems. What was so neat, was that he hummed a sung while his vitals were being taken. Stephanie told us that he'd never done that before, so we're allowing ourselves a little more optimism. :)

November 9, 2011

Corey's grandmother brought him again today. As his new routine, he was very compliant and the staff had no problems taking his vitals. Corey even helped the nurse prepare his cup of water, which he'd never done before. He was able to follow one-step directions with ease.

November 10, 2011

Corey made it 1hr 45min at pressure today. Total dive time of 2 hours. Success!

November 11, 2011

Corey came in with his mom again today and she stated that they had a great night at home last night. He was cooperative and vitals were taken with ease once again. We were able to stay at pressure for 1hr 45min again today. We're also noticing that Corey is responding to requests more calmly than before.

November 12, 2011

Stephanie told us that Corey slept very well last night. He was excited and a little more on the hyper spectrum this morning. He had to be refocused several times, but managed to follow our directions as instructed. He became restless after about an hour in the chamber and started crying at times due to frustration. Stephanie stated that “Mondays are always very hard for us.”

November 15, 2011

Corey was in a playful mood this morning and his attention was easily redirected. He became agitated and restless during the dive. We totaled 70 minutes at pressure today.

November 16, 2011

Corey and grandmother were in the chamber for 90 minutes at bottom today. No problems and no complaints.

November 17, 2011

Another day with 90 minutes at bottom. No problems and no complaints.

November 18, 2011

Another 90 minutes at bottom. Total of two hours in the chamber today.

November 22, 2011

Corey tolerated another 90 minutes for a total of two hours again today and just had mild/moderate agitation at times. We have also noted as of this week that Corey's been more engaged in watching TV. When he first started going into the chamber he wouldn't pay any attention to it. It seems that his attention span is improving and that he's starting to pay more attention to things in his surroundings.

Meet Corey McClain. He's seven years old, non-verbal, and Autistic. He was diagnosed when he was almost three years old. He suffered from seizures from age one until age three, when he changed his diet for one year, making the seizures stop. He's now been seizure free for four years. He's had allergy testing and lead was found in his system, to which his parents have done periodic chelation and seen some positive results.

Today we welcome Corey to our clinic, where we'll be closely monitoring him as we work to ease the symptoms of Autism. We want nothing more than to have Corey be able to tell his parents, Stephanie and Scott, just how much he loves them.

We're cheering for you Corey!

October 18, 2011

Corey came in for his second dive today. He was smiling and even kissed one of our nurses gently on the cheek on his own. We had some trouble getting his vitals and checking his ears because he was so fidgety, but we were able to proceed with the staff working together and the help of his mom, Stephanie. He walked to the chamber in hand with one of our nurses and proceeded with the dive. Near the end of the dive he began getting restless and moving around a lot, but no aggression was noted.

October 19, 2011

Corey dove with his grandmother this morning. He came in and shook his right hand at us to greet us and let us know he was in good spirits. He was much more cooperative with the staff today. Still fidgety, but not agitated during the dive.

October 20, 2011

We attempted our first 90 minute dive with Corey today, but were unsuccessful. Corey starts to get aggressive near the one hour mark. He also had a small nosebleed today, which Stephanie stated had happened before, but we were able to control it and agreed to continue the dives.

October 21, 2011

Today we attempted to increase Corey's time again. His mother gave him tylenol prior to arrival to try and have him more sedated in order to extend the time. After 70 minutes, Corey became severely agitated and aggressive and Stephanie asked that we bring them up from pressure.

October 25, 2011

Corey came into the clinic smiling and in a calmer state with his mom. He had no problems getting ready for the dive, but was very fidgety and our staff was unable to obtain a pulse and O2 saturation reading. He became anxious and unable to sit still towards the end of the treatment.

October 26, 2011

Corey came in today and was able to stay on task very well. He was quiet and the staff was able to take his vitals with ease. He became slightly restless at times when in the chamber, but he wasn't out of control or aggressive.

October 27, 2011

Corey came to us in good spirits this morning. He was able to stay on task and wasn't easily distracted. Our staff was able to take all his vitals without the assistance of others. Corey also did well in the chamber and became excited when it was time to come out.

October 28, 2011

We had another good day with Corey today. His dad told us that “Corey loves the rain” and Corey was nothing but calm and cooperative today. We were able to take his vitals with ease again today. We also noted that he was very loving towards his mom during the dive. No problems noted.

October 31, 2011

Stephanie (Corey's mom) reported that they had a small breakthrough last night! Apparently, Corey helped brush his teeth, which is something that he'd never done before. Stephanie told us that they normally had to fight with him and hold him down in order to be able to do it, but not this time.

We're glad to be seeing some progress!
